Ruhr Metropolis - Bochum
The city of Bochum is located in the southeast of the Ruhr area, not
far from Oberhausen and Essen. Bochum is known for its
Ruhrtriennale,
one of Europe's most important theater festivals. The festival is
hold in the huge
Jahrhunderthalle. This factory build before World War I was turned into an activity center in 2003.
Around the Jahrhunderthalle you can find the
Bochumer Westpark. In this pasture you can come to relax.
The center of Bochum, with the beautiful city hall, is well worth a visit. In the so-called
Bermuda Dreieck, the entertainment district of Bochum are several cafe's, pubs and restaurants. Just south lies the small town
Hattingen. The Altstadt (old center) contains several narrow streets and alleys with original half-timbered houses.
